Yob
Biography
The city of Eugene, Oregon is the cradle of this heavy / rough Doom trio. YOB's story began in 1996 under the impulse of Mike Scheidt (Guitare / Chant), Isamu Sato (Basse) and Gabe Morley (Battlery) with the desire to be part of the pioneers of Sleep, Electric Wizard, or Burning Witch and High On Fire. A first demo will be launched in 2000 and will already attract the interest of specialist critics. But we have to get the speed up, and that's 12th. Records that this stage is reached, with the release in 2002 of the first American album, Elaborations Of Carbon . The following year, YOB recorded the decisive arrival of Travis Foster behind the drums in order to make up for Gabe Morley's departure, but the group will also make a transfer to Abstractsounds for the release of Catharsis in 2003. With the help of a stronger production and a refined style, this record will de facto propel the Americans among the tenors of the stage. But Mike Scheidt is prolix in composition. We must wait only a year before we can listen to the band's new delivery, The Illusion Of Motion. Metal Blade Records then notices the growing phenomenon around the band and quick to sign YOB. A few months, however, will be enough to put into a box The Unreal Never Lived, their fourth opus. Released in the summer of 2005, the album announces bad news since Travis Foster and Isamu Sato decide to leave the ship. YOB's future is now uncertain, but Mike Scheidt nevertheless states that the group will only return to the condition of being 200% of its means. But now the new tomb on January 12, 2006, the group finally throws the sponge. Mike Scheidt then announced that he was heading for another project, called Middian, which he described in the continuity of YOB. 2009 is against all odds the return of Yob to business and complete since the band's fifth album was released that year. The Great Cessation followed in fact the worthy step of its predecessors, followed two years later by Atma , signed by Profound Lore Records. The trio performed twice at Roadburn in 2010 and 2012 and will be recorded and released on the festival label. In 2014, YOB signed with Relapse Records and Neurot Recordings for the release of Clearing The Path To Ascend .
