Vulcain
Biography
Daniel Puzio : guitar and singing Vincent Puzio : bass Marc Varez : drums
Formed in 1981 by the Puzio brothers, Vulcain released his first demo a year later at Private. A contest allowed him to record the second at Media 7 whose consequence was the signature at Ebony Records in 1984. After a first appearance on the label's compilation, the band moved to a higher speed by recording its first album, Rock n' Roll Secours, which he earned from being unfairly taxed by some as "Motörhead français".
In 1985, Vulcain experienced its first line up change. Franck Vilatte is replaced by Marc Varez on drums and the band releases the now cultism ep La dame de fer followed by the second album Desperados . The quartet gradually gained a certain reputation, notably by ensuring the first part of Rogue Male , but had to face a new change of line up in 1988, Franck Pilant succeeding Didier Lohezic as second guitarist. Under this formation, Vulcan recorded the album Transition in 1989. Much more rock than the previous ones, the latter marks a turning point in Vulcain's career, which in turn even loses his nickname as well as his guitarist, Pilant. From this period the group entered a more chaotic phase. It was not until 1992 that the original duo recruited a new scratcher in the person of Marcos Arrieta. Not for long, however, because shortly after the release of Big Bang , which confirms the change of direction initiated on Transition , the latter puts the sails leaving the group permanently in the form of a trio. For four years, Vulcan gave no sign of life. In 1998, the band recorded Stoppe the machine which turned out to be his last album, the separation being pronounced the same year.
For seventeen years, Vulcan was, alongside such formations as H-Bomb, Blasphemy, Sortilège, Warning, or Der Kaiser, one of the most talented artisans of French metal. Ten years later, however, its members did not stop the music. Daniel Puzio still plays rock with Mr Jack and Marc Varez is a drum teacher. Vincent Puzio, meanwhile, runs a record store in Pigalle.
