Varg
Biography
Philipp "Freki" Seiler (Chant / Guitar), Sebastian "Geri" Feick (Chant / Guitar), Thomas "Skoll" Winkelmann (Basse) and Silvester "Fenrier" Grundmann (Battery) founded Varg (loup in Swedish) in 2005 in Coburg, Germany. After a first demo title in 2006, Varg released his first album Wolfszeit the following year, directly influenced by stage bands Pagan Metal such as Equilibrium, Falkenbach or Månegarm. Sebastian and Thomas left the band in 2008, replaced by Zasch "Hati" (Guitare) and Timo "Managarm" (Basse / Chant). With this new line-up, Varg records a split with Minas Morgul and above all a live DVD of the Philipp festival entitled Live Am Wolfszeit Festival. In 2009, the Germans signed with Nuclear Blast to release their next album, but the label judged their music too basic, quickly dismissed them, forcing the band to publish Blutaar at Noise Art Records in 2010.
