Unleashed
Biography
Unleashed is a Swedish Death Metal band imbued with Nordic and Viking culture. Formed in 1989 by Johnny Hedlund (bassist and singer) following the end of Nihilist, the combo consists of Anders Schultz (Batterie), Fredrik Lindgren (Guitare) and Robert Sennebäck (Guitare), who therefore lend a hand to Johnny. After the 2 demos Revenge and Utter Dark , the band signed with Century Media for its first album Where No Life Dwells , which also gave him a place on Morbid Angel's tour in Europe and the USA. Running 1992, Unleashed looses Shadows In The Deep, followed the following year by Across the Open Sea and in 1995 by Victory, who also saw Fredrik Lindgren's departure (replaced by Fredrik Folkare). After a break of a few years when members devoted themselves to other activities (side-projects, studies, etc.) and saw the reissue of their albums, Unleashed released Hell's Unleashed in 2002 with a series of key dates. A few rumours at this time brought Hedlund closer to Nazi affinities, quickly denied by the musician. The Swedes engulfed the albums (Sworn Allegiance in 2004, Midvinterblot in 2006 and Hammer Battalion in 2008), interspersed with tours with Entombed, Dismember or Krisiun. Unleashed changed label, turning to Nuclear Blast, for the release of As Yggdrasil Trembles, quickly followed by some dates including the Summer Breeze or Hellfest. The Swedes continue their momentum with the release in 2012 of Odahleim and in 2015 of Dawn of The Nine, however the result is mixed and despite their status as a cult group, these two albums struggle to convince.
