Tom Waits
Biography
Tom Waits was born in December 1949 in Paloma, California. At the base author composer interprets it will be found both in cinema and theatre. His career began in the early 1970s with the release of Closing Time , the first album of good bill but gone unnoticed. Leaving country hues, Waits explores a jazzy crooner register with his Heart of Saturday Night. Gradually, Waits' own identity will be created: From 75 to 78 he releases 3 albums: Small Change , Foreign Affairs and Blue Valentine: the song begins to grow and the instrumentation is darker. After a movie break alongside Francis Ford Coppola or Jim Jarmush, Tom Waits deepens and enriches his universe. He released three major albums: Swordfishtrombones, Raindogs and Franks Wild Years. Here for the first time, what he will call the Discharge Orchestra appears: coppers, electric guitars, percussions that are very present. Little by little his voice becomes more raucous, the spoken song giving a theatrical dimension to albums with the appearance of decadent and ghostly carnivals, which one finds very clearly on Th e Black Rider , masterpiece of melancholic madness. Since 1999, Waits has been following success stories with sublime, inspired and varied albums: whether it's the dusty aridity of Mule Variations, Blood Money's desperate outburst, Alice's sweet melancholy or Real Gone's electric grain, Waits is still immiscuous to the depths of our soul, making us go from laughter to tears, making us go back in time. This simiesque face more than a turn in her bag and it's greedy that we expect her next dream delivery.
