Threshold
Biography
Threshold was formed in 1988 in the UK by Karl Groom (guitars), Nick Midson (guitars), and Jon Jeary (Chant). Even before the release of a first album, he became a bassist singer, then a bassist when Damian Wilson (songs) and Richard West (claviers) arrived. The drummer of the training will often change during the first years of the group. Wounded Land was released in 1993, and the following year was published Psychedelicatessen with a new drummer but also a new singer: Glynn Morgan. Damian Wilson will resume the microphone from 1996 to 1998, while releasing a third album (with a third drummer). In 1998, Threshold released his fourth album, Clone , for once with the same drummer as the previous one, but changed again from singer to the person of Andrew "Mac" MacDermott, who finally embodied the stability behind the microphone for ten years and five albums. Just after the release of Clone, the band recruits Johanne James to the battery, which also will remain at Threshold for a long time. Hypothetical and Critical Mass come out via their new Inside Out Music label, before bassist Jon Jeary, one of the founding members, retired from the band in 2003. Steve Anderson replaced him, and Subsurface was released in 2004. After a signature at Nuclear Blast, the English published Dead Reckoning in quintet, with Nick Midson (other founding member) leaving the band shortly before the recording. Pete Morten is hired to replace him, Threshold becomes a sextet again. Mac leaves the band and Damian Wilson again takes on the role of singer for the third time. Mac will leave this world a few years later, from kidney failure. In 2012, the band signed March Of Progress, then For The Journey two years later. For the third time, Damian Wilson left the adventure, as well as Pete Morten. The singer was replaced by Glynn Morgan, who performed on the band's second album more than twenty years earlier. As for the guitarist, he was not replaced (Morgan able to perform rhythm guitars), and Threshold published his first double album, Legends Of The Shires, again at Nuclear Blast in 2017. In addition, Threshold has published five live performances (including a DVD, Critical Energy), an album of reinterpretations of their acoustic tracks (Wireless), two remixes, rarity, unreleased versions, etc. (Decadent and Replica), a double best-of retracing the band's history from its beginning in 2007, as well as a set of eight singles. Current Line-up: Karl Groom – Richard West guitars – Glynn Morgan keyboards – Steve Anderson vocals and rhythm guitars – Johanne James bass – drums
