The Catalyst
Biography
Eric Smith (Chant, Guitar) Michael Backus (Basse) Kevin Broderick (Battery) Jamie Faulstich (Battery, Guitar) (2002-2012)
It was in 2002 that The Catalyst began performing at their home in Richmond. Revealing influences ranging from Botch to Led Zeppelin through Mudhoney, The Catalyst plays a hardcore, both versatile and held by an amazing consistency unique to the bands that have found a singular sound and approach. The band released records on many US labels (Robotic Empire, The Perpetual Motion Machine, Electric Human Project) and shot actively, until Europe in 2010, for the release of Swallow Your Teeth, their first and excellent album. Back in the form of a trio after the start of multi-instrumentalist Jamie Faulstich in 2012, The Catalyst released Voyager on Forcefield Records, an album in the line of the previous, wild and nourished by many lightly digested influences.
