The Bouncing Souls
Biography
Birth of a combo in '87 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, which will be 2 years more tars named The Bounting Souls. The first EP Ugly Bill was released on Complex Records (the first and last for the very roots label). Two years later, they founded their own label, Cunksaah! Records (named after their friend Tim Chunks who injected money for his creation). In '95 they moved to New York City and at the same time were contacted by BYO (L.A.). which reissues The Good The Bad&The Argyle and releases Maniacal Laughter. The following year they toured with NOFX, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Descendants. At the end of the same year Brett Gurewitz approached them and obtained a 'long-term contract' from Epitaph. Albums and EPs (on the 3 labels) follow as fast as the tours (Warped Tour, PunkORama Tour..). 2000: the group undergoes the only line up change in its history: Michael McDermott takes the vacant place behind the drums. The band exported (notably thanks to a European + Japanese tour with Green Day in '01). How I Spent My Summer Vacation is very quickly acclaimed by fans and critics as their most accomplished album. '02 allows the return to BYO for a CD split with Anti-Flag. 2003 marks the 15th anniversary of the band and to celebrate the occasion they release a DVD (Do You Remember?) and a new album, Anchors Aweigh before going on European tour...
