In 2005, Tarja Turunen was warmly thanked by her group Nightwish. From this period, the singer uses her only name as stage name, and embarks on a "double" solo career, alternating between Rock / Metal and classical music. From the time of her separation with Nightwish, she turned to the classic, first for concerts in support of the EP Yhden Enkelin Unelma , released in December 2004 while she was still part of her former band. At the end of 2006, she published a "Christmas album" entitled Henkäys Ikuisuudesta and which contains mainly covers on the theme of the holidays of the year, but also the first song co-written by herself, not at all in charge of writing within Nightwish. The album contains classical music themes but also covers of popular bands like ABBA or John Lennon. In 2007, Tarja released My Winter Storm , his first Metal-based album, and the EP The Seer the following year. After What Lies Beneath and Colours In The Dark , two other albums in the same style, Tarja returns to the classic with the album Ave Maria - En Plein Air , in 2015. The Shadow Self , his fourth album Rock / Metal, appears the following year. It includes a duet with Alissa White-Gluz ( Arch Enemy ) and a cover of Muse . At the end of 2017, back to the classic for a second "Christmas album", in which the arrangements are transposed in a gothic and dark way: From Spirits And Ghosts (Score For A Dark Christmas). The album is accompanied by a cartoon that features two characters, one dark and the other bright, representing both aspects of the singer's solo career. In August 2019, Tarja's fifth album Rock was released: In The Raw . In parallel with studio recordings, Tarja has released several live albums, sometimes directed on classical music (In Concert - Live At Sibelius Hall in 2011), sometimes on his Metal albums (Act I: Live In Rosario in 2012, Luna Park Ride in 2015...), sometimes even both (Beauty And The Beat in 2014).
