Stratovarius
Biography
Stratovarius formed in 1984 in Helsinki, Finland on the ashes of the Black Water group. The band was initially heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, and remained in the shadow for a long time. It was in 1988 that their first single F uture Shock/Wich Hunt was released quickly followed by a second and then their first album Fright Night in 1989. This first album will make them play with Anthrax , and it is then the beginning of a long career, and an incessant evolution of their music. As time goes on, several line up changes follow, but this will not prevent them from asserting their style and being a very productive band (they come out about an album a year). Their music is fast, energetic, and very melodic, the musicians are technically very good and Timo Kotipelto reveals to us every new album the extent of his abilities. In 1997, the album Visions then in 1998 the album Destiny , considered by many as the two best albums of the band, allowed Stratovarius to become known worldwide. After the two albums Elements Part 1 and Element Part 2 rather average compared to the capabilities of the group, the tensions within the group burst and the future seems dark for the group. Timo Tollki the leader then decides to continue alone (by putting the fans of the band on their backs by hiring a singer). However, the disease apparently responsible for his abhorrent attitude, causing the split of the group, forced him to undergo a cure. It is certainly this care that allowed the group to be reborn from its ashes (only the bassist remains on the button replaced by the boiling Lauri Porra). The Finnish return to the forefront with an eponymous album in 2005. Stratovarius overcomes obstacles, delivers Polaris and Elysium in 2009 and 2011 and is more than ever a must-see group of the Metal Symphony.
