Soulfly
Biography
Formed after the departure of Max Cavalera de Sepultura , a cult band he founded in the 1980s, Max decided to take the studio path again to give shape to the first album by Soulfly which was released in 1998. So depressed as a result of personal tragedies (especially the death of a relative) this first album overflows with harps, a mixture of his tribal (which he had experienced on Roots) by Metal and a more current sound. Following the success of the first eponymous album Soulfly returned in 2000 with Primitive , with a guest cohort and a much more Neo-Metal sound will be worth the lightnings of the fans. The band (in perpetual line-up change) then released two albums: 3 and Prophecy , not frankly inventive that seem to be the sign of Max's decline, yet in 2005, Soulfly released Dark Ages , a return to the saving source. Soulfly released his sixth album entitled Conquer in July 2008, then returned very quickly to the studio after a tour for Omen's recording. This will be the result of a collaboration with the ex-member of Machine Head, Logan Mader. Omen will be released in November 2009. New line-up change in 2011, Soulfly announces the recruitment of former bassist Static-X , and current bassist of Asesino , Prong , and Ministry Tony Campos, replacing Bobby Burns, who left the band in 2010. In 2012 Enslaved landed in the bins, the main theme of the album is slavery, the titles are rather evocative: Slave , Chains , Legions (a song on the Roman Empire), Gladiator , Redemption Of Man By God (with Dez Fafara of Devildriver as guest). Soulfly released his ninth album entitled Savages in 2013. It is Zyon Cavalera, Max's son who takes the position of drummer, the son of Igor Cavalera (Max's brother) Igor Cavalera Jr. sings in duet with Max on Bloodshed. After several inusable tours Cavalera and his band returns to studio in 2015, the 10th album is called Archangel, its release takes place in August.
