Biography

Sonata Arctica is a Finnish Power Metal band from Kemi, Lapland. Originally created as a Hard Rock band under the name of Tricky Beans, members decided to change their name to Sonata Arctica as they moved to Power Metal. They also use some elements of Metal Symphony, then, in their latest albums, some elements of Metal Progressive. The current training consists of keyboardist and performer Tony Kakko, guitarist Elias Viljanen, bassist Pasi Kauppinen, keyboardist Henrik Klingenberg, and drummer Tommy Portimo. In 2016, the band recorded a total of nine studio albums, the latest of which was The Nineth Hour , released in October 2016.
