Biography

Sodom was founded in 1982 by Tom Angelripper (song, bass), Aggressor (guitar) and Chris Witchhunter (battery). After two albums Obsessed By Cruelty e t Persecution Mania which made them gain a certain reputation in Germany, they exploded on the world stage in 1989 with Agent Orange: Great commercial success (It is still today the best-selling German Thrash album.) and great success on the metal scene. After a Better Off Dead (1990) in a traditional Thrash-Metal, the band took a first turn by leaving Tapping The Vein in 1992, while the Thrash scene was in crisis and threatened by the arrival of Death and Black Metal. Besides, this Tapping The Vein will have many Death Metal features. After the Get What You Deserve (1994) and Masquerade In Blood (1995) with more Punk influences, the group and its line up stabilize: ' Til Death Do Us Unit e (1997) marks a return to the sources and a more assertive Sodom "patte". Code Red, M-16 and Sodom will be in the same vein. After the Final Sign Of Evi l in 2007 which is a re-record of their first demo, In War and Pieces released in 2010 and marked the "real" return of Sodom since 2006, with a participation in Hellfest scheduled for 2011.
