Rotting Christ
Biography
The brothers Sakis and Themis Tolis accompanied by Jim "Mutilator" Patmouse are members of Black Church, before forming Rotting Christ in 1987, the musical orientation is Grindcore during a few demos, then Black Metal starting from their first EP Passage To Arcturo (1991). Thy Mighty Contract the first Greek album was released in 1993 by Osmose Productions ( Absu , Samael , Diabolical Masquerade ...), when the band made its first big release by participating in the Fuck Christ Tour with Immortal and Blasphemy , followed Non Serviam (1994) by Unisound Records. After a signature on the German label Century Media Records, Rotting Christ enchaine avec Triarchy of the Lost Lovers (1996), opus on which Gothic influences are felt, the phenomenon is amplified on A Dead Poem (1997) where tempo slows down, and even hears acoustic guitars; Fernando Ribeiro de Moonspell is invited to the Song Two Storms. After Sleep Of The Angels in 1999, Khronos was the sixth mischief of the band to be born in 2000, and as these predecessors he continues to dig a furrow in a Doom Gotthotic universe, the recovery of Lucifer Over London from Current 93 attests to this, the production is carried out by a Peter Tagtgren with a growing reputation (Bread, Hypocrisy, Bloodbath). Rotting Christ is on a constant release rhythm, and in 2002 he released his seventh Genesis album, a return to the roots of his music is palpable, but the combo doesn't give up what he has experienced in recent years, this time to the controllers is Andy Classen (credited on albums by Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Naglfar, or The Old Dead Tree). More complex but in the same spirit Sanctus Diavolos comes out in 2004, the one who could be considered as a synthesis of the band's music sees itself being fanned by Fredrik Nordström, guitarist at Dream Evil but above all renowned producer ( In Flames , At The Gates , Opeth ...). Three years pass and Theogonia arrives in the bins, the ninth opus of Rotting Christ is the first at Season of Mist, the Black Metal of the beginnings is far away, the Greeks have changed their sound to reach a rare maturity, inspired by all the horizons of metal music, the result, a subtle and intellectual creation. After the same interval, Aealo appeared in 2010, and then Katá Ton Daímona Eaf The latter is a real success, some titles like In Yumen-Xibalba quickly become classics during sublime stage performances. In 2014 Rotting Christ celebrates 25 years of career with a compilation: 25 Years: The Path Of Evil Existence. In 2015 the live Lucifer Over Athens appeared. At the end of that same year the Greeks announced the release of a new opus for 2016, Rituals .
