Riverside
Biography
Riverside was formed in 2001 in Warsaw, Poland, around Mariusz Duda (Basse / Chant), Piotr Grudziński (Guitare), Piotr Kozieradzki (Batterie) and Jacek Melnicki (Claviers). The group performs a Progressive Metal more emotionally oriented than technique, where one discovers the influence of Anathema, Porcupine Tree or Pain Of Salvation. The band's first album, Out Of Myself , was released first in Poland in 2003, then in the rest of the world a year later. The album was very well received by the critics and the band made a good place in the Prog Metal spheres, despite the departure of the keyboardist who was replaced by Michał ▼apaj. The inevitable prog label InsideOut takes the Poles under its wing, and releases their second album Second Life Syndrome in 2005. The ep Voices In My Head was published the same year in Poland, and a year later in the rest of the world. In 2007, the band's third album, Rapid Eye Movement , was released. Riverside thus concludes the Reality Dream Trilogy, their first three albums telling us the story of a man who gradually sinks into madness. For his part, Mariusz Duda works on his solo project with more acoustic and tribal sounds, Lunatic Soul , whose first album was released at the end of 2008 on the Kscope label. In June 2009, Riverside returned with his fourth album, Anno Domini High Definition . A live show featuring two CDs and two DVDs named Reality Dream, also released in 2008 and 2009. The Poles continue their momentum, without changing staff or hiatus, and release Shrine Of New Generation Slaves (2013) and then Love, Fear And The Time Machine (2015). But in February 2016, guitarist Piotr Grudziński suddenly died of cardiac arrest. Riverside then released the Eye Of The Soundscape compilation in its tribute, an instrumental and experimental collection of old and new titles, the latest posthumous recordings of the six-cordist. The remaining three members announced their wish to continue the Riverside adventure as a trio, not having the heart to replace their lost friend. Mariusz Duda will play guitars on the next album (in addition to bass and singing), and the band will become a quartet only for concerts. Wasteland is released at the end of September 2018.
