Rage
Biography
Rage is a German heavy metal band founded by singer/bassist Peter "Peavey" Wagner in 1984 as Avenger before being renamed in 1986. First suffering from multiple changes in line-up, the first two albums Reign Of Fear and Execution Guaranteeed are made notably with drummer Jörg Michael (who will not join the suite Grave Digger , Running Wild , Stratovarius ...) before a more stable trio was established at the end of 1987 with Manni Schmidt (who will also play with Grave Digger ) on guitar and Chris Efthimiadis on drums. Rage then really starts getting known with albums such as Perfect Man, Trapped! and The Missing Link that appear on international charts. Schmidt left the adventure in 1994 and was replaced by two guitarists Spiros Efthimiadis and Sven Fischer. The training was one of its greatest successes in 1995 with Black In Mind . In 1996, Rage became a pioneer by collaborating with a real orchestra for the album Lingua Mortis , an association that will be repeated several times thereafter. Shortly before Ghosts (1999) was released, Peavey Wagner remained alone in the saddle, with the other members leaving to found Sub7even. He then recruited the Belarusian Victor Smolski (ex-Mind Odyssey) on guitar and keyboards and Mike Terrana on drums, returning to a trio. The band continues to chain the albums. In 2007, another drummer change with the arrival of André Hilgers. That same year, Smolski was chosen by the Nuclear Blast label to compose the anniversary album Into The Light under the name Nuclear Blast Allstars, in which Wagner and Hilgers also participated. Three more Rage albums follow until 2013, where the band presents the symphonic project Lingua Mortis Orchestra . Smolski then prefers to continue in this direction, melting Almanac and leaving Peavy alone again. He will be joined by drummer Vassilios "Lucky" Maniatopoulos and Venezuelan guitarist Marcos Rodriguez, with whom he released The Devil Strikes Again in 2016 and Seasons Of The Black in 2017. Also worth noting, the former line-up composed of Peavy Wagner, Manni Schmidt and Chris Efthimiadis was reformed in 2014 as Refuge , first for concerts only before announcing an album for 2018.
