Ragana
Biography
The Ragana duo was formed in 2011 in Oakland, California, by Maria and Nicole, who in turn shared singing, drums and guitar. The band defines itself as antifascist queer playing a mix of Black Metal and Doom Metal. After self-produced a first ep All's Lost in 2012 followed, the following year by the album Unbecoming, Ragana signed in 2015 at An Out Recordings for the release of Wash Away. Their third album, You Take Nothing, was released in 2017 and is closely followed by Let Our Names Be Forgotten , a split with Thou that greatly contributes to making the duo known beyond their local scene. Ragana now resides in Oakland. The EP We Know That the Heavens Are Empty appeared in 2019. 2023 marked the band's return, now signed on The Flenser, with the release of a second LP titled Desolation's Flower.
