Polvo
Biography
Polvo is the little forgotten brother of the 1990s, who was nevertheless an active member of the indie rock/noise scene in the United States (in the shadow of formations like Sonic Youth or Pavement) and one of the founders of what is now called math-rock. Formed in 1990, the American quartet continues its little roadman between 7" and EP's with favorable criticism before moving to Chicago and signing on the label Touch & Go (who also signed, among a long list: Slint , Don Caballero , Yeah Yeah Yeahs , TV on The Radio or even The Jesus Lizard ) in 1996. The record company releases the band's first album, Exploded Drawing , which blends with the crumbling distortions and rhythms of Asian sounds. While the combo how to gain fame, the members split in 1997, just after having released Shapes .
11 years later, Polvo reworked for a show at All Tomorrow's Parties. As a result, the band replayed together and released a new album, In Prism , in 2009, which takes over where they had stopped before the hiatus.
