Poison Idea
Biography
Jerry Lang - song Dean Johnson - drums Chris Tense - bass Tom Roberts - guitar
Poison Idea was born in Portland in 1980, around Jerry Lang (song), Dean Johnson (battery), Glen Estes (bass) and Chris Tense (guitar). The latter will soon be replaced by Tom "Pig Champion" Roberts (ex- Imperialist Pigs) for the recording of the classic Pick Your King, but will resume its appearance a year later, instead of Glen Estes for Record Collectors are Pretentious Assholes. Following the release of King of Punk in 1986, the band faced frequent line-up changes, the most notable of which was the recruitment of a second guitarist, Vegetable Olsen, for the recording of War All the time , named after a short story by Charles Bukowski. From 1987, Poison Idea stabilized around Jerry Lang, Tom Roberts, Charley "Myrtle Tickner" Nims (bass), Steve "Thee Slayer Hippy" Hanford (battery) and Aldine Strichnine on the second guitar. Two years later, the band founded its own label, American Leather, and released two skeuds suddenly, Darby Crash Rides Again and Discontent 7". In 1990, Poison Idea recorded the legendary Feel the Darkness, followed in 1992 by Blank Blackout Vacant and We Must Burn. The Portland formation did not survive Tom Roberts' departure in 1993. The band then burst into several directions, with Jerry Lang pursuing a solo career with Gift along with his wife and Thee Slayer Hippy. Against all expectations, Poison Idea reappeared in 1998 for the release of a 7 inches but immediately fell asleep. In 2006, the Portland band recorded a new album, Latest Will & Testament, the last with Tom Roberts on guitar, the latter dying on January 31, 2006.
