Ludwig Von 88
Biography
Born in 1983, when Berurier Noir released his first and cult Macadam Massacre , Ludwig Von 88 moved from his first jets to an Alternative Rock largely dyed second degree. With its fluctuating line-up (9 members throughout the history of combo), punks released their first album in 1986: Houlala . From the first pieces, the tone is set: critique of the French society, while tingling their rhetoric of humor (many references to Louison Bobet, Jack Chirac, Maria Callas, ...). Quickly, the albums follow each other (Houlala 2: The Mission , Everything for Thrash , ... until the latest, The Revolution is not a Gala dinner ), interspersed with different maxi. We must wait until the end of the 80's for the line-up to stabilize around Karim Berrouka (Chant), Fabrice Barthelon (Chant), Nobru (Guitare), Laurent (Basse) and Jean-Mi (Machines) and their faithful box with rhythm. The concerts follow each other, animated and enlivened, as Houlala 3 : L'Happy Tour . They will go so far as to deliver a record of covers ( 17 Leads to pet the tubes, including Scorpions , Sabrina , Queen or Hervé Vilard ) and a children's record, La Sacrée Grole , while continuing to play with humor and bad taste on their other albums (as evidenced by "Fistfuck Playa Club", "Yes Yes and the Yellow Car", "Ayrton Senna" or "Pocahontas") without ever forgetting to address some more serious themes (War, Alcohol or Drugs). Since their last opus, La Révolution is not a Gala dinner, Ludwig Von 88 does not seem to have given a sign of life, except through the reissues of their albums. Nobru has started a solo career under the name of Sergeant Garcia , Jean Mi plays with the Black Berrier and the other members seem to be down. Why 88? No one will ever know, Ludwig Von 88 having never given an identical answer in their interviews...
