Loma Prieta
Biography
Trio of San Francisco, Loma Prieta owes its creation to the meeting of former members of Sailboats, Go Go Go and Acheopteryx. Determined to continue the legacy of the Emoviolence of the late 1990s, Loma Prieta (named after the American earthquake of 1989) follows the footsteps of the late formations of the period in a condensed style between Neil Perry, Funeral Diner and Honeywell. Followed and supported by Ape Must Not Kill Ape and Discashuelga, Valeriano Saucedo III (Battery), David Fung (Guitare / Chant) and Derrick Chao (Basse / Guitar) released two eps in 2006 and 2007. Sean Leary (Guitare / Chant) replaces David Fung before the recording of Last City where they fully reveal their ability to a angry, intense and painful Screamo. Shortly after, Brian Kanagaki (Basse / Guitar / Chant) replaced Derrick and Loma Prieta released a darker album with Dark Mountain in 2009. Slowly, the San Francisco-born band moved to Hardcore with Life /Less in 2010, then I.V. in 2012 and their new signature at Deathwish. They then toured with Birds In Row, Converge and Raein with whom they released a split in 2013. In 2015, Loma Prieta officially became a quartet with the arrival of James Siboni (Basse) and released Self Portrait , nourished by new influences Indie Rock / Noise / Hardcore still at Deathwish.
