Iggy Pop
Biography
Iggy Pop , by his real name James Newel Öster The young man set up his first rock bands in high school with friends and inherited the nickname of Iguane. In 1967, he founded his own formation, The Stooges . The band met with great success and the I wanna tubes were your dog or Search and Destroy created hyssing among rockers. Precursor of the Punk movement, Iggy Pop is known for its use of guitar and its impressionous leaps on stage. The godfather of the Punk initiates the tendency of the diving stage which consists of propulsing himself into the public and getting carried by him. But the drugs are right about the group. Then comes the meeting with David Bowie at the beginning of the 70's that will upset Pop's career. An artistic complicity between the two artists with radically different styles is developing. Between Paris and Berlin, they compose, from their work, the two solo albums of Iggy Pop, The Idiot, then Lust for Life, both released in 1977 thanks to the credit of David Bowie who asks him to make the voice on his album Low. With these two albums and Kill City released (to be compared with Bowie's Berlin trilogy), Iggy Pop was successful. Abandoned for a moment by David Bowie , Iggy saw his new success rapidly decline. He was back to James Williamson as a producer. With a New Wave sound, he composed three albums where he returned to a much more violent style of music: New Values (1979), Soldier (1980) and Party (1981). In view of the commercial failure of these albums, which, despite the artistic control of the production company, were far removed from the musical tastes of the time, Pop decided that his next album would be made without the control of the record companies: followed Zombie Birdhouse (1982), relative artistic success but, once again, commercial failure. In 2003, Les Stooges reformed until the death of bassist Ron Ashe Iggy then followed the solo turns, revealing an incredible energy and an intact muscle. In fact, the chamfer has been assagent and highlights the benefits of a healthy life scene: a yoga lover, he is no longer a vegetarian. In 2016 Iggy Pop and Josh Homme ( Queens Of The Stone Age, Eagles Of Death Metal) released a joint project entitled Post Pop Depression. The album appeared in March and also featured Dean Fertita (Queens Of The Stone Age , The Dead Weather ) and Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys ).
