Her Name Is Calla
Biography
Behind the unlikely name Her Name Is Calla are four English musicians who arrived from Leicester, gathered in 2004 and signed by Giza Records. Still young, the band suddenly released two striking eps in 2007. Condor&River (limited to 250 copies) stands out as a 16-minute epic piece that borrows both the best of the Post-Rock (GY!BE to name but one) and the classy intimacy of the indie slow-core (iLiKETRAINS/with whom the group approaches) for an endless descent to the darkest of the soul. The second album, A Moment Of Clarity , confirms in two tracks the talent of a band always seeking recognition through its lyrical flights.
Her Name Is Calla presents The Heritage in 2008, with her first album judiciously blending bright melodies and abyss dives, which continues on the occasion of a split with their Maybeshewill neighbours the same year. In 2009, they signed with Denovali Records, which reissues their records. The year 2010 is very productive for the English who release an ep, Long Grass, then a second effort, The Quiet Lamb. Maw, a new ep, appeared in 2011.
