Giant Sand
Biography
Born in the mid-1980s in Tucson, Arizona, Giant Sand is a collective with variable geometry that evolves around the incredible singer and composer Howe Gelb. For thirty years, he has been exploring the lands of music that take its roots in the central and southern United States, from the Arizona and New Mexico deserts to the Midwest Plains. Giant Sand saw many members passing, including Joey Burns and John Convertino, who later had to found Calexico, a band that was heavily influenced by the sound and universe of Howe Gelbe. Early 2016, shortly after the release of his latest album, Heartbreak Pass , Giant Sand announces the end of his activity after a tour of Paris's final date.
