Gadget
Biography
Swedish Grindcore Group (no, not Nasum) originally founded in 1997, it is initially a side project solo by William Blackmon. The latter is tired of playing in groups with no ambition and limited life, which are only "one more project" for the musicians involved. He released a first demo in 1997, but Gadget is moving a long way forward, the main protagonist being obliged to register on 8 tracks in order to be able to advance on the design of the music that he really likes. It was the meeting with Rikard Olsson, during the guitarist period of Shitstorm , that accelerated the composition process. Even if being two prevents them from performing in concert, they consider it the price to pay to make the music they want and that it was the right choice to make. The recording of a demo 10 tracks in 2000 led them to meet the vocalist Emil Englund with whom they recorded second promotional support the same year. Shortly after that, in 2001, they were asked to participate in a split alongside Exhumed, which appeared at Relapse Records. The recording at Bandylimpa studio is so successful that it marks the beginning of a lasting collaboration with the label. Following two participations in compilations released by Relapse and Putrid Filth Conspiracy Records respectively, the band signed a contract in 2003 with Relapse Records and recorded Remote in the wake. After a certain success and the arrival of Frederik Nygren at bass, the quartet recorded in 2005 a second opus which was born in 2006, entitled The Funeral March . With growing fame and a successful tour they chain collaborations and release in 2010 a split with Phobia . Then come festivals and larger dates where it happens to the Swedes to share the poster with among others Pig Destroyer or Agaraphobic Nosebleed . In 2016 released the last opus of the quartet, The Great Destoyer.
