The Fonky Family was born in Marseilles in the mid-1990s, while the Hip-Hop scene developed strongly in the hexagon around the two Marseille and Parisian poles. Barely on the paws, the collective appears on Métèque Et Mat , Akhenaton's first solo album, MC star of IAM , for the famous song Bad Boys de Marseille. The band released its first album in 1998. If God Wants to have an important success that propels them gondola head of the Marseille scene. The Fonky Family will still have more trouble chaining past the year 2000 as each of its MCs works in turn on solo projects and will finally release only two other albums separated by a live before officially throwing the sponge in 2007.
