Filter
Biography
Former live guitarist of Nine Inch Nails from 1989 to 1993, Richard Patrick went to found as a singer the band Rock Industrial Filter in 1995 with Brian Liesegang on guitar, known for working on Broken and The Downward Spiral from NIN. Patrick and Liesegang recruit Geno Lenado on guitar, Frank Cavanaugh on bass, and Matt Walker on drums. Filter released Short Bus in 1995 and the single Hey Man, Nice Shot quickly made the band known because of a controversy over the fact that Kurt Cobain's death (Nirvana ) inspired this title, something that Filter later denied.
Two years later Liesegang left Filter for artistic divergence. Then Walker goes to the Smashing Pumpkins. Patrick decided to continue the adventure and hired Steve Gillis behind the drums. Title of Record appeared in 1999 and moved away from the original Rock Industrial. The disc is a success, very quickly certified Platinum. To promote The Amalgamut in 2002, Filter logically leaves on tour and recruits Alan Bailey to perform the second guitar. But the tour ran short when Patrick decided to go to rehabilitation to get rid of his alcohol problems. He came out sober from the center on September 22, a date he was tattooed on his forearm.
At the end of 2005 Richard Patrick decided on the floor on Filter's fourth disc and appealed to the DeLeo brothers from Stone Temple Pilots to help him. The current passed so well between the three individuals that they decided to form a group: Army of Anyone. Patrick did not dissolve Filter however, he simply set it aside for the moment, favoring Army of Anyone.
