Fields Of The Nephilim
Biography
Formed in 1984, the Fields of the Nephilim were not among the pioneers of gothic rock. They have nevertheless become one of the emblematic figures thanks to their unique style and a very marked visual identity. After releasing 3 albums, now considered classics of the genre, and a live album the band splits in 91 following a difference between the charismatic frontman Carl McCoy and the rest of the band. He takes advantage of it to experiment with sounds closer to the metal in his side-project Nefilim while his former acolytes continue the adventure under the name Rubicon . The original line-up almost reshaped in 98 but in the end only bassist Tony Petttitt joined McCoy. It will take another 4 years before this co-production takes the form of the album Fallen . Unfortunately, he will not live up to expectations and because: McCoy accuses the label of having released it without his consent and of using unfinished songs. 2005 saw the release of a new album entitled Mourning Sun composed entirely by McCoy and recorded with session musicians, it will this time be very welcome. Since 2007 the band has been back on tour for the first time in seven years although the line-up is relatively unstable. A live CD + DVD package entitled Ceromonies would be in preparation.
