Esben And The Witch
Biography
Daniel, Thomas and Rachel formed Esben And The Witch in 2008, a noise rock trio from Brighton, England, their music was influenced by artists such as Sonic Youth, Radiohead, PJ Harvey and Siouxsie. After 33 a first self-produced EP in 2009, the band released Lucia, at the Precipice at Too Pure in a 7'' vinyl format, the single attracted the attention of Matador Records who signed them. Quickly a second EP is on the track, Marching Song shows up in 2010 and is an announcer of a first album, Violet Cries where influences that these New Puritans and Cocteau Twins would not deny are doing well, sees the light in 2011. Esben And The Witch doesn't hang out and as early as 2012 he works on his second baby, Wash The Sins Not Only The Face is ahead of a first single Deathwaltz, inspired by Darren Aronofsky's film Black Swan. Two years go by, and the trio is back, first with a Split CD with Thought Forms, then in autumn 2014 with its third opus after leaving Matador for Nostromo Records, its music reaches a certain maturity, A New Nature is probably their most accomplished creation until then. Their new album, Older Terrors , is released at the end of 2016 by Season Of Mist. Photo by William van der Voort .
