Ensiferum
Biography
In 1995, in Helsinki, Ensiferum was formed as a quartet. Very soon after the release of their first album, in 2001, the band integrates into the line-up a keyboard player, Meiju Enho, who will be replaced in 2008 by Emmi Silvennoinen. Focused on the Viking universe, Ensiferum gives in an extreme melodic metal and brings there many atypical elements such as acoustic instruments or traditional songs. The training will have encountered some line-up concerns but the most important departure will remain that of Jari Mäenpää (chant and guitar) who decided in 2004 to devote himself only to his solo project, Wintersun . He was then replaced by Petri Lindroos (formerly Norther). A start that will not undermine the identity of the quinquet so much because it is Markus Toivonen (guitar), who is in charge of the composition process. In 2009, the band landed with its 4th album, From Afar , a song that will focus on the integration of symphonic orchestrations into their music.
