Deerhunter
Biography
Initiated in 2001, by frontman Bradford Cox , Deerhunter initially has the ambition to reconcile experimental rock, garage and ambient. Their first album, Turn It Up Faggot (2005), takes this direction halfway between dirty, lo-fi and catchy melodies. At the same time the first half of the second opus, Cryptograms, was recorded. Nevertheless, problems with equipment, staff and health problems prevent the group from releasing the record and it will take two more years for the record to be released. It will be recorded in just two days, introducing a psychedelic pop dimension to its compositions that then flirt with the softest bases of the shoegaze.
The result of the psychological and physical wear and tear of the group, Cryptograms is followed by a long hypnotic tour, described by Karen O ( Yeah Yeah Yeah) as a true religious experience. The rest is just hype and success. Remarked by Pitchfork , Deerhunter became the favourite of the indie circles, receiving acclaim for each of his releases, including the latest album, Microcastle , released in 2008 and continuing the work on the ethereal atmospheres begun by his predecessor.
Line-up : Bradford Cox (vocals, guitar, piano) Lockett Pundt (guitar, organ, vocals) Josh Fauver (bass, vocals) Moses Archuleta (synthes, drums)
Bradford Cox is also at the start of another project, Atlas Sound, which focuses on the frontman's personality.
