Cock Sparrer
Biography
East London saw the birth of Cock Sparrer in 1972 around 4 musicians, childhood friends. The combo is oriented from the beginning towards what will become of the Oi, even if the movement does not yet bear that name at that time.
After the addition of a second guitarist in 1976 and the meeting with Malcolm McLaren as manager, the band signed the following year with Decca Records for a first single Runnin, Riot , but the label dropped Cock Sparrer due to the lack of sales of the record. An album was already recorded, only seeing the day in 1987 ( True Grit ), but Cock Sparrer throws sponge at the first time at the end of 1978.
The band grew up in 1981 with some songs added in various compilations, allowing musicians to regroup in 1982 and sign at Carrere Records . Following are Shock Troops and Running Riot in
1992 saw Cock Sparrer again talk about him with a few concerts, then an album 2 years later ( Guilty as Charged ), in 1997 ( Two Monkeys ) and 2007 ( Here We Stand ). The combo makes some tours and concerts to accompany the releases of its records (Rebellion Festival, Riot Fest, ...).
