Clan Of Xymox
Biography
These were the faties of the 1980s, the goth movement was in full explosion, and the 4AD label was a sign of essential talent. The 4AD releases of the time have become cornerstones of the genre and the first albums of Clan of Xymox are no exception, although being less known than Dead Can Dance or This Mortal Coil. Yet, the personality of these Bataves was strongly established from the beginning of their careers, with melancholic compositions tinted with bewitching keyboards and ethereal voices. In 1986 they brought forth what is considered by many as their masterpiece, the majestic Medusa. The group then left 4AD, a decision that will be reflected in their subsequent, much less significant releases and a series of turbulent journeys. After line-up changes, a shortening of their name for Xymox, the leader of the Ronny Moorings group decided to resume the composition with the original name in 1997, following a three-year hiatus. Clan of Xymox has been active ever since, chaining albums and tours at a regular pace.
