Brainstorm
Biography
Brainstorm is a German Power Metal band founded in 1989 by guitarists Torsten Ihlenfeld and Milan Loncaric and drummer Dieter Bernert, all of whom are still in office today. A first demo, Hand Of Doom , was created in 1990; the line-up is for the occasion complemented by bassist Peter Waldstätter and singer Stefan Fronk, who will only stay for a few months. Then came Andreas Mailänder to bass and Marcus Jürgens to singing. Other demos followed, before the first album was released in 1997, Hungry. If Jürgens is still present for the recording of Unholy (1998), he will leave the adventure shortly afterwards, temporarily replaced by Henning Basse (Firewind , ex-Metalium ) before being integrated Andy B. Franck (ex- Ivanhoe , which at the same time founded Symphorce ). Brainstorm signed at Metal Blade Records and published Ambiguity in 2000. Three more albums and an EP were followed before the bassist's departure in 2007 and his replacement by Antonio Ieva. Downburst, in 2008, marks the end of the contract with Metal Blade, but the label will still release the best-of Just Highs, No Lows (12 Years Of Persistence) in 2009. That same year, the band joined the AFM Records team for the release of Memorial Roots (which, following some criticisms, will be re-released in 2016, in a remixed and remastered version, under the name Memorial Roots - Re-Rooted ). Since then, Brainstorm has continued his roadman, without any change of line-up or label, and the albums of flock: On The Spur Of The Moment in 2011, Firesoul in 2014, Scary Creatures in 2016, and the most recent Midnight Ghost in September 2018.
