Blut Aus Nord
Biography
Blut Aus Nord is a mysterious French band that has always put a point of honour to blur the tracks, both in their albums and at an extra-musical level. Evolved in both original and atmospheric Black Metal, the band applied very concretely to its misanthropic and underground "ideology" approach to Black Metal, showing as little as possible and giving no concert. Their music and their visuals are in this image: raw, dark, difficult to access, hazy. The group, within this approach, is immaterial. His tangible existence disappears in favor of his music, which becomes an entity in its own right. The musician is only a bridge between nature and the listener, a shadow charged with bringing forth a primal cry. In the case of Blut Aus Nord, this shadow bears the name of Vindsval. In 1994, Vindsval set up the solo Vlad project in Paris and produced two demos. However, he quickly changed his name and renamed his Blut Aus Nord project. He called on session musicians and released his first album, Ultima Thulée , in 1995, which already laid the foundations of a very special Black Metal, in constant quest for experimentation and renewal. Soon, the band's music was called Avant-Garde or Post Black Metal. The following year released the second album, Memoria Velusta 1- Fathers Of The Icy Age. Five years of relative silence followed, during which Blut Aus Nord , increasingly arrogant in mystery, began to become an object of worship in underground. It will take until 2001 to see the release of The Mystical Beast Of Rebellion , considered by many as the band's masterpiece. Follows in 2003 The Work Which Transforms God, which in turn will be followed in 2004 by a split with the group Reverence (Decorporation 10), and in 2005 by an ep, Thematic Emanation Of Archetipal Multiplicity. In 2006 follows the band's new album, Mort , much expected after an ep that has made debates. Vindsval has been the only conductor of the band since its beginnings, with musicians going and coming around. It gives Blut Aus Nord's music a unique and ambitious vision, which can only be found in Black Metal in bands like Ulver or Solefald. The discography of the group shows a constant evolution and questioning. As the albums progress, his music increasingly abandons the traditional Black Metal codes and incorporates many electronic elements, accentuating his atmospheric side. Many find Blut Aus Nord too abstract and difficult to follow, but this is the essence of the group itself. Like a Messhugah (in a very different style), he made reactions and remained faithful to his ideas and his approach to the Buttist, always surprising and elusive.
