Asphyx

A Dutch Death Metal group, Asphyx took root in 1987 around Bob Bagchus and Tonny Brookhuis. Quickly joined by Eric Daniels (Guitare) and Chuck Colli (Chant et Basse), a demo is distributed: Enter The Domain . After a rapid change of bass player (Theo Loomans instead of Chuck Colli), a second demo was born, Crush The Cenotaph. Brookhuis throws the sponge, letting the trio record Embrace The Death, an album that will remain in the box due to label problems. The former Pestilence Martin Van Drunen joins the remaining members and allows Asphyx to sign at Century Media, with the key the opus The Rack, opening them the doors of the tour bus with Entombed, Bolt Thrower and Benediction. Shortly after, the second opus was put on tape, Last One On Earth and Van Drunen, as quickly as he arrived, left Asphyx, replaced by Ron Van Der Pool, while Sander Van Hoof took the place of Bob Bagchus. 1994 saw the release of Asphyx , the third opus of the larrons that split at the detour of a pair of riffs. Not discouraged however, Loomans and Baghus return to the charge and reform Asphyx for the 4th Dutch record: God Cries , followed by loan by Embrace The Death , in the bins 5 years after the studio sessions. Three years after the return to life, Asphyx committed suicide again in 1995. Theo Loomans died in a car accident in 1998. Baghus and Daniels founded Soulburn with Pentacle (Chant) and Wanne Gubbels (Basse). Dissez Feading The Angel , which will be the only album under the name Soulburn since the combo was renamed Asphyx in 1999 for On The Wings Of Inferno . In order not to change anything, Asphyx split again in 2000 (the third time in 6 years). And it's no surprise that in 2007, Van Drunen, Baghus, Gubbels and Paul Baayens returned for a series of concerts, recording a cover of Celtic Frost and a new album, Death....The Brutal Way . In June 2009, he was in the bins. For now, no split rumors have filtered but no one knows what Asphyx is holding us apart unless it's a big death metal...
