Biography

Alice Cooper (February 4, 1948, Detroit, Michigan) was an American singer, band leader and musician. His stage name will also be that of the hard rock band he will train with friends musicians. Because of his attitude and appearance, he is recognized as the main father of shock rock. His career is a series of roller coasters in musical style. Initially with the Alice Cooper Group (1969-1974) and later in solo career (1975-...), the prolific singer will go through different phases and styles in his career (freak, shock rock, experiments, new wave, electro-rock, heavy metal, pop-rock, grunge, metal-industrial...) In the space of 18 months, the band released three albums which, suddenly, exploded the top 10 album sales in the United States, dedicating Alice Cooper and her horrific rock as one of the major figures of American popular music of that time. These opus, School's Out (1972), Billion Dollar Babies (1972) and Trash (in 1973) are considered by specialists to be both the commercial and artistic successes of the band and its singer: the formation announces, shortly after the publication of Muscle of Love, its official dissolution, thus marking the beginning of the solo career of Furnier/Alice Cooper. Left on the wheel hats, with the popular plebiscite of Welcome to My Nightmare , his first album released in 1975, this solo adventure is however gradually falling apart, Cooper becoming unable to bring any innovations to his musical formula. The singer, who is still active, usually publishes new albums at regular intervals, capitalizing lightly on his status as a veteran.
