Alcest
Biography
Alcest is at the base a Black Metal band from Avignon, founded in 2000 by Snow (Amesoeurs , Peste Noire ), Famine and Argoth (Peste Noire ) linked to the release of their first demo, Tristesse Hivernale . Their style will gradually evolve into Atmospheric Black Metal with the release of The Secret in 2005 and Shoegaze, Dream Pop in 2007 with the noticed and often criticized, Memories of Another World. 2007 will also be the occasion to re-release the demo Winter Sadness during a split with Angmar.
In 2010, Alcest came back with a darker record called Ecailles De Lune . In 2012, appeared their third album, Les Voyages de l's Soul, and their first clip on the title Autres Temps. Shelter , the 4th opus is published in January 2014, more oriented Dream Pop this is a slight disappointment but still allows Alcest to go on a big tour that will lead them especially to the United States. On July 27, 2016, the group announced on their Facebook page that the release of their new work is scheduled for September 30th. The album is called Kodama , contains 6 tracks, the cover made by Førtifem. Kodama is very different from Shelter , he partly reconnects with early influences. This album has a resounding success and brings the band on long, grueling tours, which will partly inspire Snow for the creation of his album: Spiritual Instinct . Now signed by Nuclear Blast, Alcest is gaining in popularity and collaborates with Perturbator for a concert at the Major Arcana evening orchestrated by Førtifem, who are also the creators of the illustrations of the album cover. This collaboration with James Kent will lead to a remix of the title Sapphire . Photo of the group by Andy Julia.
