Poison The Preacher Mark New Music Era with Seek And Strike Label
Colombian crossover band Poison The Preacher has officially sealed a worldwide deal with Seek And Strike. Their debut album, Vs The World, is slated for release on May 23rd via the label. To commemorate the occasion, the band has unveiled their first single, Sucker Punch, featuring a guest appearance from Chris Ramos of Dead Heat.
Vocalist/guitarist Juan Pablo shared his thoughts on these significant developments:
We are ecstatic to be a part of the Seek and Strike family. We are proud to have the opportunity to collaborate with these exceptional professionals moving forward. We chose them because they demonstrated a genuine interest in the band and we share very similar visionaries. We believe this is the next logical step in our career and we are confident that we will make a substantial impact together.
The first single, 'Sucker Punch,' is focused on individuals who only speak trash and possess confrontational attitudes. We selected it as the lead single because we feel it encapsulates what this album is all about. It features everything that defines our band; lush harmonies, unique time signatures, energetic choruses, aggressive riffs, and exceptional breakdowns.
You can also hear our songwriting maturity on this track, as we truly found our definitive sound. We decided to film the video with an actual audience to capture the intensity and mayhem of our live shows. The shoot was conducted at a friend's rehearsal space and we were surprised by the large number of people who turned up. It was incredibly fun and chaotic, just what we needed for the video. I think you can really feel the energy and that is precisely what we aimed for.
Additionally, this song features Chris Ramos of Dead Heat and his vocals take the track to new heights. We first collabated with Dead Heat in 2023 at the 100% Hardcore Fest in Bogota, which both performed at. We quickly became friends and I really love how this collaboration turned out and Chris elevated the song with his performance.
This is our debut, full-length album and Vs The World is the culmination of everything we've done so far. It feels like a big step up for us as a band. Everything fell into place perfectly with this record and it's a precise portrait of what we're all about. We finally developed a sound that genuinely represents us to the fullest.
It also spurred us to continuously improve and evolve, so I will probably be saying something similar on our next record, but I think it's clear that we exceeded ourselves this time. We are a band that doesn't recreate the same song twice, so all of the tracks come from different perspectives, so there's something for everyone here.
What truly sets us apart is our unique perspective and blend of genres. If you have never heard of us, give it a try. I'm sure that whatever it is you like, Thrash, Death, Hardcore, etc., you will find a song that resonates with you on this record. If you are already a fan, I'm confident that you'll appreciate the nuances and explore different music styles than what you're used to. We are not reinventing the wheel, but we will introduce you to everything you love about heavy music through our distinct lens.
